About Dr Chua Hui Zi
Dr Chua Hui Zi is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) physician with extensive clinical, academic and public health experience. Graduated from the second batch of NTU Double Degree in Biomedical Sciences and TCM, Dr Chua went on to further her studies in Tianjin University of TCM sponsored by the China Scholarship Council and graduated with a Master of Medicine and Doctor of Medicine in TCM Internal Medicine.
Her postgraduate training included mentorship under distinguished TCM experts, including Professor Zhang Boli, a renowned academician and leading advocate for evidence-based TCM and integration of TCM and Western medicine. Her clinical postgraduate training fostered specialised expertise in TCM management of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, kidney disorders, as well as endocrine and metabolic conditions. Combining extensive clinical training with a strong academic foundation, and trained in both TCM and Biomedical Sciences, Dr Chua brings a unique perspective that bridges traditional healing principles and modern scientific approaches. Her training has cultivated a deep appreciation for evidence-based TCM and a comprehensive understanding of both traditional and conventional healthcare approaches. Dr Chua adopts a holistic and evidence-informed approach to patient care. Her goal is to help patients achieve lasting health and well-being through treatments that are grounded in both clinical experience and scientific evidence.
Her past clinical experience included providing holistic care in TCM for patients with chronic disease management, women's health concerns, digestive disorders, pain and musculoskeletal disorders, stress-related disorders, and general wellness care.
Beyond clinical practice, Dr Chua has contributed actively to TCM research, education and healthcare initiatives. She has published extensively in international and Chinese medical journals, contributing to projects advancing evidence-based TCM, and served as co-editor of publications supporting the integration of TCM and Western medicine in the management of COVID-19. She has also delivered lectures for an elective course at NUS, introducing students to the history and healthcare landscape of TCM in Singapore.
Dr Chua believes that effective healthcare goes beyond symptom relief. She is committed to helping patients achieve lasting health by addressing the root causes of imbalance, empowering patients to take on an active role in their health journey while supporting sustainable health outcomes through an integrative and patient-centred approach.
